Agreement and eligibility
By downloading, installing or using Amali App (“Amali”, “we”, “us”) or the website amali.app (together, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age at which you can consent to these terms where you live, whichever is higher. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use Amali with the permission of a parent or guardian. How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Your licence to use Amali
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Amali on devices that you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, and in line with these terms and the rules of the store you downloaded it from. Amali is licensed to you, not sold.
You may not, and may not help anyone else to:
- copy, sell, rent, lease, sublicense or redistribute Amali or its content, other than sharing individual duas, verses and greeting cards using the sharing features;
- copy or collect Amali’s content in bulk, by automated means or otherwise, to build another product or dataset;
- modify, translate or create derivative works of Amali, or reverse engineer it, except where the law gives you that right despite this restriction;
- remove or bypass any notice, restriction, advertisement or paid-feature control, or use Amali Pro features without a valid purchase;
- use Amali in a way that is unlawful, harmful or abusive, or that interferes with Amali or other people’s use of it.
Accounts
Some features may let you create an account. Keep your sign-in details to yourself and give accurate information. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so if you think someone else has used it, tell us at hi@amali.app.
You can delete your account at any time inside the app (see the “Delete your account and data” section of our Privacy Policy).
Acceptable use
Please use Amali with the same respect you would bring to its content. In particular, you agree not to:
- use Amali, or anything you create with it (such as greeting cards), to harass, defame, deceive or incite hatred or violence against anyone;
- misrepresent the Al-Qur’an, hadith or any dua, or present your own words as if they came from Amali or from a religious source;
- access or try to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours;
- probe, scan or test the security of Amali, or try to disrupt it, without our written permission.
If you find a security problem, please tell us privately at hi@amali.app with enough detail for us to understand it. Give us reasonable time to fix it before you share it with anyone, and do not access other people’s data or disrupt the Service while looking.
Religious content and accuracy
Amali presents the Al-Qur’an, tafsir, duas, dhikr and other religious material to help your daily worship. We work carefully to keep the Arabic text, transliteration, translations and sources accurate, and we are grateful when you point out a mistake at hi@amali.app.
- Translations and tafsir are human work and reflect the understanding of their authors. They are not a substitute for studying with a qualified teacher.
- Amali does not issue fatwas. Nothing in the Service is a religious ruling. For questions of Islamic law or practice, please ask a qualified scholar.
- Selection and wording of duas and dhikr follow the sources shown in the app. Where scholars differ, you may follow the view you trust.
Prayer times, Qibla and reminders
Prayer times, the Qibla direction and reminders are provided as aids. They are calculated, and they can be affected by the calculation method you choose, the accuracy of your location, your device’s compass and its calibration, and your device settings.
Please confirm prayer times and the Qibla with your local mosque or religious authority when it matters. Reminders and alarms can be late or missed if your device is switched off, in a power-saving or silent mode, or has notifications or alarms disabled, so do not rely on Amali alone to catch a prayer.
Amali Pro and purchases
Amali is free to download and use, with ads. Amali Pro is an optional paid upgrade that removes ads and unlocks extra features. Its price, billing period and what it includes are shown in the App Store or Google Play before you buy. We may add, change or remove Pro features over time. Prices can differ by country and may change, and a price change applies only as the store allows.
All purchases are processed by Apple or Google, not by us, under their terms. We never see your payment details. Because the stores handle billing, refunds and billing problems are handled by them as well.
- If Amali Pro is a subscription, it renews automatically at the end of each period at the price shown at purchase, until you cancel.
- Free trials, if offered, convert to a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel first. Any unused part of a free trial is lost when you buy a subscription.
- Restoring: if you reinstall Amali or change device, use the restore option in the app to get back what you bought with the same store account.
iPhone and iPad (App Store). Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings after purchase. Refund requests are handled by Apple (see the Apple Media Services Terms).
Android (Google Play). A subscription renews automatically each period until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in Google Play (Menu → Subscriptions); cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and the period you already paid for remains available. Refunds follow the Google Play refund policy.
Deleting Amali or your Amali account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in the App Store or Google Play.
Advertising and third-party services
The free version shows advertisements from third parties. We do not control those ads or the sites and apps they lead to, and we are not responsible for them, so please take care before you tap one. How ads relate to your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Amali also depends on services from other companies, such as the app stores and the providers of audio and other content. Their own terms apply to your use of those services.
Intellectual property
Amali, including its design, software, logo, name and the way its content is selected and presented, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. These terms give you no ownership of any of it. The Al-Qur’an and the words of the Prophet ﷺ are a trust for the whole Ummah. Translations, tafsir, recitations and other materials remain the property of their respective authors, reciters or rights holders and are used with their permission or under applicable licences.
What you create or save in Amali, such as favourites, collections and greeting-card text, remains yours. You give us only the limited permission needed to store it and show it back to you. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve Amali without owing you anything. If you believe content in Amali infringes your rights, please write to hi@amali.app.
Changes, suspension and ending these terms
We may update, change or discontinue parts of the Service, and the Service may sometimes be unavailable. We will try to give notice of significant changes.
You can stop using Amali at any time by deleting your account in the app and uninstalling it. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or if the law requires it. Sections that by their nature should continue (for example intellectual property, disclaimers, limits on liability and governing law) continue after these terms end.
Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose, and without warranties of any kind beyond those the law does not let us exclude. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profit or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service, including a missed or late prayer reminder or reliance on a calculated time or direction. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for Amali Pro in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law you live under does not allow to be limited.
Terms for App Store and Google Play users
iPhone and iPad. These terms are between you and Amali only, not with Apple. Amali is licensed to you on the terms of Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, as supplemented by these terms; if they conflict, these terms apply to the extent the standard agreement allows. In addition:
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Amali. Amali is responsible for that support: contact us at hi@amali.app.
- If Amali does not meet an applicable warranty, you may tell Apple to refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Amali.
- Amali, not Apple, is responsible for any claims about Amali or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails a legal requirement, and consumer protection claims, and for any claim that Amali infringes someone’s intellectual property. If such a claim is made, Amali, not Apple, will investigate and handle it.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must follow the terms of any third-party agreements that apply when you use Amali, such as your mobile carrier’s terms.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you.
Android. Your use of Google Play, including any purchase, is governed by the Google Play Terms of Service. Google is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Amali or its support.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, except where the law of the place you live gives you mandatory consumer protections, which are not affected. If you have a complaint, please write to hi@amali.app first and we will do our best to resolve it quickly and fairly. If it cannot be resolved, disputes will be decided by the competent courts of Indonesia, without limiting any right you have to bring a claim in the courts of your own country where the law gives you that right.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Amali grows or the law changes. We will change the “Last updated” date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or on this page before they take effect. If you keep using Amali after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using Amali.
General
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If a part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours as part of a merger or sale. These terms are provided in English and Bahasa Indonesia. They are meant to say the same thing; if they differ, the Indonesian version applies to users in Indonesia and the English version everywhere else.
